Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs) under the Ministry of Railways have released an indicative Centralised Employment Notification (CEN No. 02/2026) for the recruitment of Technician Grade I Signal and various Technician Grade III posts. Applications will be accepted through online mode only, and a total of 6,565 Technician vacancies are expected to be filled across all RRBs for the 2026-27 recruitment cycle.

As per the approved intent, 6,565 Technician vacancies are proposed for the RRB Technician 2026-27 recruitment, distributed as follows across all RRBs. 

  • Technician Grade I Signal – 323 Posts
  • Technician Grade III – 6,242 Posts
  • Total Vacancies (All RRBs) – 6,565 Posts

Who Can Apply for RRB Technician 2026?

Eligibility criteria depend on the post and level. Candidates must meet educational, technical, and age requirements as per the Centralised Employment Notification.

  • Technician Grade I Signal: B.Sc. (Physics / Electronics / Computer Science / IT / Instrumentation) or Degree/Diploma in Engineering in relevant discipline from a recognized institution.
  • Technician Grade III: 10th / Matriculation plus ITI from NCVT/SCVT in relevant trade or Act Apprenticeship in the concerned trade.
  • Other Conditions: Candidates must satisfy prescribed medical standards and citizenship norms and should be within the specified age limit as on the date mentioned in CEN 02/2026.

Age Limit

  • Technician Grade I Signal: 18 to 36 Years
  • Technician Grade III: 18 to 33 Years
  • Upper age relaxation for reserved categories (SC/ST/OBC/NCL/EWS/Ex-Servicemen/ PWBD) will be applicable as per Government of India rules and details will be given in the detailed CEN. 

How to Apply for RRB Technician Recruitment 2026

  • Visit your regional RRB website (e.g., Ahmedabad, Ajmer, Bengaluru, Chennai, Secunderabad, etc.).
  • Open the link for Centralised Employment Notification CEN 02/2026 – Technician.
  • Read the detailed notification carefully including post-wise eligibility, instructions and list of RRBs.
  • Register by providing basic details like name, mobile number and email ID.
  • Login using the registration credentials and fill the online application form for the desired post and pay level (only one RRB and one pay level allowed per candidate).
  • Upload required documents, photograph and signature as per specifications. >Pay the prescribed application fee through online mode, if applicable.
  • Submit the application form and take a printout / save PDF for future reference.

Important Points Mentioned in Indicative Notice

  • Each candidate can apply to only one RRB for a specific pay level and only one common online application is allowed for all notified posts in that pay level.
  • Separate applications must be submitted for each pay level, if eligible.
  • Candidates are strongly advised to verify name, date of birth and other details using Aadhaar to avoid mismatches at later stages.
  • RRBs caution candidates to be aware of touts, brokers and job racketeers and to rely only on official RRB websites for genuine information.
